The Malm Mural
G. N. Malm
Gustaf Nathaniel (G. N.) Malm was one of the extraordinary group of Swedes invited to Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas, by Dr. Carl A. Swensson, founding president. Malm, along with Birger Sandzén and Carl Lotave, established the annual Easter art exhibition which continues to this day as the Midwest Art Exhibition.
In addition to his skills as an artist, Malm was also a successful businessman. His stencils, developed with Lindsborg artist and craftsman Oscar Gunnarson, were marketed throughout the United States, examples of which exist in the McPherson Opera House.
The Mural Restoration
EverGreene Painting Studios of New York and Chicago has stabilized the Malm Mural to protect it during construction at the Opera House and will do the final restoration.
